Thoughts from Alice W.: Childhood Days...

With summer approaching...I always reflect back to childhood...and those longed for lazy, summer days...

While I don't get to enjoy them in quite the same way now, I enjoy watching little ones who do.

My sister, Destiney, turns 6 years old today and certainly helps bring out the little girl in me when we spend time together.

She recently came to have a sleep over and obliged me with her adorable face, posing for pictures as we wandered through my garden...

Watching her grow up so quickly is bittersweet for me.

Here are my prayers for her as she grows...

That she will always retain her tender heart, that we all love in her so much. No matter what comes her way.

As well as her playful spirit...

Her sense of wonder...

and precious innocence...

I hope she remembers to stop and smell the flowers along the way...

And can laugh at herself and enjoy the little moments even if they don't go as planned...{she spilled the daisies all over right after we got them "perfectly" set-up}

And remembers that mistakes can still become beautiful...

I hope she keeps the spunk...

Asks the big questions...but enjoys the simplicity of not knowing...

Extends a hand to those in need...and makes dear friends along the way...

And above all...

No matter how old she gets...

I hope she knows just how much she is loved ;)

Happy Birthday my sweet little sister. I love you to the moon...

Happy Birthday... Your touching prayer is so beautiful. I have sisters that spread up to 10 years apart and even though in my early 20's I missed my younger sisters growing up I am so blessed to be a part of their lives now.

May you always be close in heart!

Destiney looks like a fun and loving little girl. How fun it must be to have a sister so young and to enjoy all the little things we forget to enjoy now that we're older. It's great to see things through the eyes of a child.

I think Destiney is pretty lucky to have a great sister too!

Oh Alice, I have chills reading your beautiful words and seeing this precious child!!! What a beautiful relationship the two of you have! You need to print out this post and make a little book with these pictures and your prayer, a keepsake for sure!
