Does anyone else feel like spring is never coming?
Well...I am starting to get the 'cooped up inside for way too long and will I ever see the sun again?' blues...
Every day revolves around the same old thing...the cold...
And I put on the same old things...leggings under jeans...turtlenecks under sweaters...socks and slippers {the floor here is very cold so slippers are a must}. No care for accessories or frivolities...whatever will keep me warmest is all I look for.
Mind you ~ I have many new pretty things...just waiting for some warmer weather to be pulled from the closet...
But today, I had had enough.
And decided to indulge myself...
I put on my new Vera Wang tights in Olive green {I also have them in dark gray and brown...I love them!}
and my $6.00 shoes from the Goodwill {Renoir did get one...and it has some holes...but they still work}...
and my favorite skirt from Anthropologie...
and indulged myself.
It felt good to be wearing something pretty for a change...something frivolous...something just for me.
Okay...okay...after the "photo shoot" I put on something a bit more practical. But I still have the tights on under my jeans ;)
I hope that you get to enjoy some moments of frivolity and self-indulgence this week...
Till next time...
* * * * *
And a very BIG thank you to all of you who entered my last giveaway and for those of you who took the time to vote for Renoir! He didn't win...but...he did come in number 47 out of over 6,500 dogs so we were very proud of him ;) And he is okay with giving up his dreams of Hollywood...who would want that when they could have a big picture window to sleep in front of 16 hours a day? And no paparazzi disturbing him...
And the winner of the giveaway was Allison...congrats to you!

love it! You are so talented in your photography, Alice! all your post are just simply beautiful. LOVE the first photo

Oooh Alice, I love this post and the photos! Those tights are beautiful and the $6.00 shoes, wow! And they must be great if Renoir approves too! Your skirt looks sooo feminine and pretty... I have had enough of winter too! My neighbors wondered what I was doing out in the cold this morning... I was taking close~up photos of teeny little shoots of my daffodils coming up! I want Spring too! Congratulations to Allison, and also to Renoir! Number 47 out of 6500... that is pretty special! But so is Renoir! Love to you... doggie kisses sweet Renoir... xoxo Julie Marie

I UNDERSTAND about the cold and I feel like I live in pants all winter! On the other hand, don't dispair...my Uncle called ( he lives up the street) and told me he saw a bunch of ROBINS the other day! So...we know it's on the way!! Tami
PS....Renoir...you'll have to try again next year handsome..:-)

You just need to come visit us at the Maison! It's finally sunny and 70 degrees but we'll do the next best thing and send some warm breezes your way. Renoir, you know you're always our hero and a star to us that shines the brightest bright! Love that skirt, Alice.

Oh gosh it is cold! We've gone over budget for snow plowing at my condo and today I skated across my driveway to the car.
I am a little tired of Winter too. In the Fall, I look forward to sweater weather but by February I'm ready to shed some of the layers. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer. Hang in there, Spring will come.

You look adorable! I am sending my spring vibes your way, it's starting to get so warm here! Frivolous and indulgent sound fabulous, I'll have to think of something for this week!

Well, Alice, the skies are sunny here even though there is cold and snow still hanging around. I must admit, I like being cooped up in my creative space -BUT- it is because the skies are not gray. I adore living in AZ. Should not tell everyone the skies are mostly sunny here, as I do not want people to be too sorry they do not live here--I spent too many dreary days in TN, in the winter, to live without sunshine. I love to visit my dear South but it is AZ living for me on a day to day basis. The catch is though, sunny or not, YOUR photos, your stockings, your shoes, your posts, are the best of the best reading , whether dreary or sunny. You are a breath of sunshine. Thank you!

You know you have to endulge yourself. I did that the other day since I've been home everyday since the last of September I'm starting to notice I'm getting slack and I don't want to do that all of the time. I now don't put on makeup everyday hey I'm at home getting to create and play all day which I LOVE but one thing I always do each and everyday is put on my jewelry no matter what I have on jeans or lounging pants and a simple shirt I put on the earrings, ring and sometimes neckware. It helps to keep me inspired I'm wearing something that I designed and created I wore something everyday to work so why not at home but the other day I decided to put on makeup eventhough I was not going anywhere oh and of course my lashes yes I wore lashes everyday to work wouldn't be caught without them. I don't want to get to complacent or just too too laxed and it felt good.

from "her": What wonderful photos and I love this post! Sad that you changed into something more practical - how did the Victorian era women always dress so beautifully?!?! Very cute outfit, you should celebrate more often!
from Romeo: Congrats to Renoir - who cares if you are not #1 in the contest? You are #1 to someone special and there could be nothing better, wouldn't you agree??

What pretty tights and your skirt is darling. I must say that Renoir is absolutely the cutest terrier I have ever seen. I have 6 dogs (5 chiwi's and a chow), so I love to look at all the doggies out there. And yours is definately worth looking at.

Love your photo shoot! I've been lounging in black sweats for far too long! I need to dress up too :)
Posted by: Johanna | February 25, 2010 at 10:13 AM
This is as cute as it can be, it looks like a spring dream!! The dress is incredible gorgeous, like the stockings and the old shoes :) Love the mix of old and new. Oh how we long for the springtime, these cold and dark days has left us a bit slack and pale. We are sure going to have an incredible treat when these beautiful days arrive!! Can`t wait to open my windows and breathe the fresh air.
Warm greeting, in spite of cold Norwegian weather :)
