A storm is brewing here...and I am stuck inside...still.
And still very cold.
Yet, while I dream of spring and warmer days...excitement and new interests brew in my heart.
I have a new found passion.
A new love...if you will...
I am sure it will not come as any surprise to my regular visitors and friends....but it has to do with my camera.
And a new little friend called the 50mm.
My new baby...my new little lens.
After doing a bit of research, I came to realize this was the next lens for me...and that it would give me the creative ability to capture the shots I am so inspired by. I have had it for just about two weeks now...and am enamored with learning what it can do. It is no easy task mind you...but as with anything new there is much to learn.
I wake up now each day wondering what shots I will get...thinking about what I want to capture...
I have also been spending a lot more time on Flickr...making new friends over there and soaking in all of the beauty and inspiration they have to offer.
As well as playing in Photoshop Elements with different textures and techniques.
I am learning to love photography as more than just 'taking pictures'...but a true art form...
This has spurned on another new endeavor...my third Etsy shop....{yes, I know...three is probably a bit excessive...but what can I say, I like the separation and organization}
I have begun to offer my fine art photographs in this shop and am getting them professionally printed so they are top notch quality. I do hope that you will stop by and take a look around...
Till next time {just buried here in the snow and playing with my camera}...

Alice, such amazing and beautiful pictures. Funny thing...I just wrote a post last night on choosing a camera for better photos. I am just venturing in more to photography and will be buying my first dSLR. Excited! Would love to invite you to read it and share your thoughts if you'd like. :) I also noticed your work has been in Sommerset Life...love that magazine! I in fact I had my first year blog anniversary a couple of days ago and it is one of the things I am giving away. Looking forward to seeing your Etsys. Have a wonderful evening.
Hugs,
Victoria

Oh girl. . . you simply just must be referring to a 50mm 1.4f. I adore my 50mm . . . and I do adore your pics. So beautiful!
You're more than likely already aware, but
http://shadowhousecreations.blogspot.com/
has the best free textures. Yay. . ..

Just like everything you do, it's beautiful Alice. Your photography skills were already superb in my opinion, how nice you are taking them to the next level. Fully understand wanting to keep things separate at Etsy... off I go to take a look at your new shop, if the photos here are any hint, I will be there for hours!
A storm is coming in here as well, more rain again for California. Stay warm (bet Renoir will help with that).

Hello :) Snowed in here too. I cannot wait til Spring arrives so I can really get outside and take more pics. I agree that your photography is already amazing! You have a gift my friend. My mom just got me the 50mm and I've had it about 2 weeks too! I love it, it takes amazing photos. How funny, I went to an estate sale and got two white slips this week :) Hope you have a lovely weekend! Susan

We've got a storm coming here too...so, that much more time to snuggle in and play with pictures!!
