Yesterday...I had a very important date. In Wonderland.
I made it on time mind you...even sporting my 3-D glasses.
After I fell down the rabbit hole, I was met with curiosity...enchantment...confusion...and even a bit of disappointment...
Thus is Wonderland I suppose.
I often get lost in the details of movies....the backgrounds...set scenery...little extras others may never notice. There were little things in this film that enchanted me in that way......but I suppose I had just expected a little bit more...
Some characters did delight...such as Alice herself...
And of course...the Mad Hatter...
I was also fond of the White Rabbit {who doesn't love a little white rabbit donning a waistcoat?}
Even Tweedledum and Tweedledee gained my affection...
As did the very large head of the Red Queen...
However, I could have done without this version of the White Queen {sorry Anne Hathaway fans...I never have been and her look in this certainly did not help matters}...
And perhaps some of the lacking "muchness" as the Hatter told Alice...
You used to be much more...muchier. You've lost your muchness.
Perhaps that is what this trip to Wonderland needed for me...a little bit more muchness.
It did, however, inspire me to pick up the original books once again...and perhaps create my own whimsical world through them. I have read Through the Looking-Glass and Alice in Wonderland several times throughout my life...but it has been some years now...so I think another trip is surely needed...
I hope that you enjoy a "much-filled" week...
Till next time...

Hi Alice, Haven't seen the movie yet...still want to but with so muchness going on it's difficult to find time...usually late most days it seems anymore. Wishing you a great week too ... Much friendship ~ Rebecca ;-)

Seems to me our own Imagination can create the best trip in Wonderland as we journey thru the pages of a book...

Hi Alice,
This movie is playing at our little town theatre and I would love to see it before it vanishes from town. I too find myself looking at the sets of movies and looking for inspiration in them. I'm not loving the Anne Hathaway look either but will give her a chance as the White Queen. Thanks for the heads up, I actually love, love, love the Disney version movie and have since I was a kid and was Alice one year for Halloween. Happy week (the Sun's shining here! ;)

I am reading the Alice books for the first time as we speak. I wanted to read the original first before I saw the movie. Your not alone in your critique of it, but I'll go and see it anyway.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from Alice In Wonderland:
Cheshire Cat "Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin; but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in my life!"
White Rabbit "Oh my fur and whiskers!"
Dutchess "If everybody minded their own business, the world would go around a great deal faster than it does."
Mock Turtle "Well, I never heard it before, but it sounds uncommon nonsense."
Thank you, dearest Alice, for the pics in your blog and critic of the AIW movie ;-)

I'm just not much of a fan of the whole group. Kind of dark looking to me. But, I know that lots of folks have loved this film. I guess it's each to his own. Thanks for the review. Charlene

The story didn't flow so well, the acting was lacking a bit overall (even the normally wonderful Depp), and yes, I felt the bit of disappointment as well. But the sets, costumes, music, and the editing were divine!

I loved the movie but the White Queen was a disapointment- I thought Alice was lovely.

I agree about The White Queen but I was delighted with the movie....the set...costumes and all the wonderful words kept me going. I would really like to see it again. xoxo

I agree. Anne Hathaway was mis-cast in my opinion. There were some charming bits to the movie, and though I'm not a huge Tim Burton fan (too dark for me) I admire his vision and talent. Alice herself was delightful.
When in doubt, just read the book (-:
